Water nymphs or sprites are of the same race, and they live in water - Well that's obvious, but they are fun and challenging to draw - so copy or get some inspiration from these fairy drawings for free.

Get your pencil and paper and start drawing.
You will be a fairy artist before you know it.
This water nymph is relaxing by the side of a pool, or a river.
The water looks pretty calm.
However she has a bit of an expression of surprise on her face.
She looks like something is amiss.
So start to draw her by a very loose outline of her position, and then the shape and position of her head.
Notice the Long Wavy Hair - and that is where I have experimented with a bit of "stylization" the hair is not really realistic looking.
It is a challenge though, to create the waves, and have the hair floating on the water.
Give drawing her a try.
This close up will help you play with the stylizing of the long wavy swath of hair.
Notice how the lowlights are dark, (good place to start when shading), and lightly work the edges of that dark with a slightly lighter layer of pencil, working towards the white as the highlight.
Do you see the illusion you create of shine.
This is an important lesson for shading hair.
