This charming young girl is one of the gypsy dancers who are famous for using a tambourine to bring entertainment to the caravan.
You can just imagine a whole world of fantasy images to draw.
I do love gypsies and all the imagery that goes with them.
This young dancer is one of those imaginings.
The colorful clothing, the wild abandon of their culture, all of these things make for some great fantasy art.
When I think of gypsies, I think of wild flowing hair.
I didn't give this young lady a lot of hair, but I tried to make it look loose and flowing.
Practice drawing the shape of a character with movement.
If you are ready to draw these images - just continue, if you feel you need some easy free lessons, check out my how to draw section, or for more advanced instruction, consider my drawing book, and with some work you will be ready to draw any of this stuff!
This gypsy is shaking her tambourine up in the air, and her leg is pointed and kicking.
Experiment with movement - the more movement we can achieve in drawing the better.
Clothing of a gypsy is important, notice I have tried to create her look in layers.
I don't know why but I always think that a gypsy wears layers of clothing.
One more note about the clothing, I have tried to give it the look of some bounce.
Her little apron is uplifted a little, as if it is moving.
Experiment and play with clothing. As well, try and do some research into what a character might wear.
I am developing a section about the drawing of the clothing, and clothing ideas, coming soon - in the meantime subscribe to my free monthly e-zine to make sure you don't miss anything.
Here you can see her dark eyes, which are quite lively, and her loose wild hair.
I tried to emphasize that she is dancing and therefore her hair will not be completely tidy.
When drawing it is important that you remember what you are trying to create.
Put yourself in the position of your subject, imagine the realities.
