These drawings are of a couple of the brides of dracula, they are in their boudoir getting ready to have dinner with the Count - what's for dinner?
Many artists talk about creating thumbnails, and this is where you think about the composition of the drawing, etc. Composition is important and these two wives of dracula are facing away from each other, one is looking more at us, and the other is lower - in a sitting position looking at something else.
This makes your eye move over the drawing! This creates interest.
So practice with this drawing tutorial and enjoy the process.

These young women, look so innocent and that is very deceptive when it comes to the brides of a vampire.
I have just imagined some characters from many of the vampire stories out there. Since it is the drawing that we are really focusing on, notice I have created a composition consisting of two figures, facing away from each other and they are created in a very sketchy style.
They have soft hairstyles and fashions, creating that boudoir look, but when you see the close up - the characters are a little more severe looking.
I would consider this a sketch or thumbnail as some artists describe that builds up to perhaps a painting.
One of the things you will notice is that close up these faces are very much just rough sketches.
However, they give the impression I am after a slightly wild and animalistic look on their faces, when you get close.

Well, not really they still look pretty and sweet, but you can see from the close ups that I have played with the idea of teeth... my new book will show you how to sketch and the work up to the idea of an open mouth with teeth.
When I say my new book - I am talking about the How To Draw Faces Book that is coming, this will be an intensive step-by-step drawing book, and there is also a new free section on the site - coming soon! If you want to be sure not to miss new things please feel free to subscribe to my free e-zine.

Have fun and sketch away, come up with new ideas!
Also, notice I have created one with dark straighter hair, and one with blonde curly hair.
The more you can master drawing hair - the more imaginative your drawings will be.
I have some other evil - but beautiful females to draw at gothic pencil drawings, that might give you ideas about composition, and hair, and the beautiful flow of the clothing.
