Merfolk

Crystal Palaces

Merfolk are the legendary members of an old race, and descendants of Aphrodite.

Aphrodite was the foam-born goddess of love whose companion was the loyal dolphin.

They are also called Fin Folk or Mer People and live in Crystal Palaces at the bottom of the ocean.

They work and live in service to the Sea Gods, Poseidon or Neptune,

Every Culture has had stories of Mermaids

Did you know that every culture has had these legends since time began?

A Mermaid sitting on a rock and combing her beautiful hair of silk, while an entrancing sight was actually considered a sign of terrible storms to come.

The oceans were the domain of the Merfolk...

and the legends say they were masters over the weather...

could bring great storms, or calm the sea at will.

Their Beautiful Song

The song that a Mermaid sang was beautiful and yet considered frightening because it was rumored that they would lure many men to their deaths by shipwrecking boats on the rocks.

But were they real?

Many people truly believe in Merfolk, and the following paragraphs prove that humans all over the world have reported seeing them, and knew of their existence.

In an attempt to find a Northern Passage to the the East Indies...

Henry Hudson's log reported on June 15, 1608 that two of his company, Thomas Hill and Robert Raynor said that they had seen a Mermaid.

Here are their descriptions:

"From the Navill upward, her backe and breasts were like a womans. . . her skin was very white; and long haire hanging down behinde, of colour blacke;

in her going downe they saw her tayle, which was like the tayle of a Porposse, and speckled like a Macrell".

The British Isles had them.

The British Isles was no exception to the Mythology.

The Cornish knew them as Merrymaids, and the Irish knew them as Merrows.

The tale following is about Merrows, and they are a little different.

Apparently they live on dry land underneath the sea, but have a little cap they wear, allowing them to breath under water.

Here is a story!

Great writers such as Yeats wrote some tales.

I will give you the complete story of the Lady of Gollerus
