I have been drawing fairies and displaying them online for almost a decade now. I have improved amazingly, and I have failed spectacularly in front of thousands of people.
While I am not suggesting that you can get rich quick, I can get rich quick, I can assure you that you can build a business in art today. The world we live in needs artists for everything!
Well... after years of trying and crying...
...many of my drawings are now mysterious,
magical and full of life. Notice that I say "many"
...many are, and many are not!
You know something, that's okay! Cause the more I draw and learn - the better I get.
I'm feeling pretty good about my career as an artist today...
But it wasn't always so...
My fairy drawings used to be so disappointing!
Many times I was so broken-hearted and frustrated. Everything looked so stilted and lifeless!
I just didn't know how to create the images, that I imagined.
I would see other artist's fabulous fairies - happily perched on a mushroom, or gently picking berries under an ancient oak tree!
I struggled with so many aspects of my drawings, not being able to make the thing come to life. How did other artists make them look so alive and beautiful?
Would I ever get that life-like quality I wanted?
I wanted to draw fairies that looked like they went adventuring all the time, with clothing that looked old, rumpled and lived in.
I wanted to make fairies that would pull you into their story.
I felt discouraged and positively down-hearted about not being able to capture the look of lace, or see-through fabrics, that swirled around a dancing fairy. Why couldn't I do it?
I could see it in my mind, but when it came to the pencil and paper it just didn't look right.
There were times when I actually sobbed!
I considered giving up - that I just wasn't a good enough artist. Maybe I just wasn't cut out to do this? I felt that others must be gifted, and knew something I didn't.

- shade, where to start, and how much was needed;

The Hair I Drew Looked Like Sticks!
I was so uptight and upset that drawing hair that flowed or looked shiny seemed an impossibility.
If I drew curls, they were just a mess, and the whole thing looked flat, with no bounce or realism.
Why couldn't I create the fairy I wanted?
Well, plain and simple - I just didn't know the things I know now!
