Did I say you don't have to be formally trained?
Yes, I did!
I also know that you don't have to be
born with a pencil in your hand!
You can become the kind of person
who can take a pencil and draw
anything you want.
and
Imagine the feeling when you know
that each drawing you start will have
that magical, living and breathing
look!
Imagine creating a fascination about
who that character is?
That is the magic you want...
There was no choice, I had to get my drawings to shine. Have you ever felt that you will burst if you don't make your dream come true?
And... the truth is that there are so many ways to make a living in art, particularly in today's world!
Many are doing it on the internet, licensing their artwork, selling it, working as gaming artists, working in animation, putting their art on products, illustrating books, well - you get the picture... there are artists everywhere!
But, I wasn't a kid! In fact some of you might think I'm old. But I still wanted my dreams to come true! And I was tired of being afraid to go for it.
The good news is that if you get to that place, when you are sick and tired of not going for it, then anything can happen, and I am proof of it!
I have been drawing fairies and displaying them online for almost a decade now. I have improved amazingly, and I have failed spectacularly in front of thousands of people.
While I am not suggesting that you can get rich quick, I can get rich quick, I can assure you that you can build a business in art today. The world we live in needs artists for everything!
You know something, that's okay! Cause the more I draw and learn - the better I get.
I'm feeling pretty good about my career as an artist today...
Many times I was so broken-hearted and frustrated. Everything looked so stilted and lifeless!
I just didn't know how to create the images, that I imagined.
I would see other artist's fabulous fairies - happily perched on a mushroom, or gently picking berries under an ancient oak tree!
I struggled with so many aspects of my drawings, not being able to make the thing come to life. How did other artists make them look so alive and beautiful?
I wanted to draw fairies that looked like they went adventuring all the time, with clothing that looked old, rumpled and lived in.
I wanted to make fairies that would pull you into their story.
I felt discouraged and positively down-hearted about not being able to capture the look of lace, or see-through fabrics, that swirled around a dancing fairy. Why couldn't I do it?
I could see it in my mind, but when it came to the pencil and paper it just didn't look right.
I considered giving up - that I just wasn't a good enough artist. Maybe I just wasn't cut out to do this? I felt that others must be gifted, and knew something I didn't.
I was so uptight and upset that drawing hair that flowed or looked shiny seemed an impossibility.
If I drew curls, they were just a mess, and the whole thing looked flat, with no bounce or realism.
Well, plain and simple - I just didn't know the things I know now!
I struggled and struggled...
I am here to tell you, that I don't have a lot of special training
and...
You don't need it either!
You can learn these things without investing a lot of time and money!
And I say it again...
I am not classically trained, or a graduate of any kind of art school!
I didn't study in Europe - I wish!
In fact I am just your average single mom who learned a lot about drawing, the hard way, - through trial and error!
Yes, I have taken courses, and often walked away with a disjointed bunch of theories and techniques. Afterwards, I didn't have a clue how to apply them.
I felt lost when I sat down to a blank piece of paper.
I have purchased really pricey drawing books, and while I was impressed with all of the drawings of faces, hands, legs, feet, etc. I wished I knew how to start without a math degree.
Some of those drawings just to get you started, are so complex. They give you all kinds of measurements and rules.
I get it that the human body has proportion, and if you can master that then you are technically very correct.
But at what cost?
This book will teach you in a way, that won't leave you feeling confused with theories and mathematical measurements; it will have you feeling confident when faced with a blank white piece of paper.
The simplicity of the first drawings will have you seeing your success right away. This will ensure that you keep drawing, not having you so depressed and frustrated that you throw the whole thing across the room.
I really enjoyed using the "How to Capture a Fairy" pdf book when I first bought it a few years ago. I printed it out and put it in a three ring binder.
At that time, I was just beginning to draw faces and I found the instructions were clear, concise and easy to do! I was so happy to have an uncomplicated way to create a face and body parts, too.
I was looking for a fun guide and felt that Barbara created just what I was looking for. I keep it in my bookcase and take it down on a regular basis when I am in the mood to have some fun.
There are also lots of ideas for fabulous fairy hair, clothing and action movements. I highly recommend this little tome. It will make your fairy quest fun and easy to follow.

Did you know that being a prolific artist is one of the most important attributes of a professional artist?
That means that a large portfolio or a large gallery shows that you are a serious artist.
I have even checked out many drawing forums and great art sites on the internet, thinking wow this person draws way better than I do.
There is no doubt about it, you will always find artists who are more advanced than you are.
However, move on throughout the forums and you will find some brave souls who have posted their drawings that are no where near the same level as the top few.
Guess what? That is an artist who will succeed!
We all start where we are, but there are secrets that can help you push past where you are, and the results will take your breath away.
You will burst with pride the first time that happens to you.
The first bunch of fairies are a little more simple, and the instructions are very detailed.
Thanks so much for this delightful book!
I always look forward to your newsletters to see the beautiful creatures you breathe life into.
I have tried several times to emulate your wonderful designs and have failed miserably!!
But no more!! Thanks to the clear and easy to follow instructions in your book, I am proud to say that I too have created some lovely little creatures.
Thanks once again for providing a wonderful instructional book that has given me some tools to allow me to create these delightful fae-folk.

Yes there are eleven (11) fairies in this book, each step-by-step, doing each detail of the whole drawing with me. Wow - do you know that a regular publisher would never touch a book with this much in it - it would cost a fortune.
They would probably charge -
But that is the great thing about e-books. You can have this kind of one-on-one step-by-step work in an e-book, and you can have this download right now, well in a few seconds.
This is a course that will change the way you feel about your drawing!
It will have you drawing all the practice on this site - easily.
You will learn how to structure and position your figure in lots of poses, without worrying about the details. You will work on a simple structure that makes the whole thing enjoyable.
We flesh out the figures together, and discuss how you are creating the shape, style and even the personality as you go.
The beginning fairies are the simpler ones, and you gradually get better. Then before you know it you are drawing the more complex fairies. By the time you have finished the book you will be amazed at what you can draw.
I loved seeing all the stages that go into your fairy drawings. You make it seem so simple in your e-book. It makes me want to try my hand at drawing the fey. Thank you for sharing your gift. Jessica, USA
Learn some simple methods of adding depth and detail in the clothes that you draw. Imagine drawing fabrics that flow, and float. Things that are sheer will be magically easy.
Hair is very manageable in the book, and my fairies demonstrate various hairstyles. Shiny hair will be a breeze.
Curls - no worries!
I also make it clear throughout the drawing process that you should allow your own fairy to emerge. This is not a test in copying, letting go and just doing the work will (I guarantee it) create an original look to your fairy.
Gently, you increase your skill in shading, and shadow. This is the magic that brings things to life. Over time you get to know instinctively what to highlight - the opposite of shading - makes it even more life-like.
Learn how to use the different pressures while drawing.
What would you pay?...to sit down and draw with an artist? Some courses are hundreds of dollars, and if the book really helps you get in my head? - Well what would that be worth?
After all of the mistakes and blunders I have been through, would you like to know what I know? What is the price in terms of years that you might spend getting all of this stuff by yourself?
Do you want to practice all the free stuff on the site? Time is money too - can you afford to wait?
Would you like to see my mistakes and errors as I make them? Then we can fix them together and what is learned from this kind of hands-on stuff is amazing.
Your heart will glow when you finally succeed by drawing a wonderful fairy of your own.
Or imagine the pride when you see your skills improving?
Looks fantastic to me. I'm pretty new at drawing, so don't really have much to add except thank you for creating something so very basic for us newbies!!
Well, back to practicing!!

I'm usually not good at drawing. I found your e-book easy to understand & follow.
Julie Brubaker, United States
You can download this book and find yourself learning things right in the first few chapters. If you get to work (only a pencil and paper required) you will be amazed!
Part of my motivation in creating and adding to this site is to offer you lots of free practice, and ideas!
Even if you have never drawn before - I guarantee that you will be drawing if you follow the book.
You will also have fun as you move along.
And if you are already drawing, then you will find some amazing details that will add to your skill. These ideas might be things you have not discovered before. There is something for "almost" everyone.
Wow! I really like all of it! So professional looking! And the tutorials are very clear.
