Flower Drawing

A Flower Drawing is a very important aspect in any Fairy Art.

Have you ever wanted to draw a flower?

It is also one of the most elegant and magical parts of nature.

How do you start to draw it?

We will explore that, and yes, anyone can draw a flower.

Scrapbooking Flower

This is a stylized flower - the kind that is great to draw for a scrapbooking layout.

I love doing this kind of flower. It is more decorative than realistic.

You will find your favorite style, and maybe this page can help you with that.

Apple Blossom

Is there any spring flower any more magic than the blossoms in trees?

When you walk down the street and it happens to have many apple or cherry trees all in blossom.

The pinks and whites are incredible.

If you happen to live where there are orange trees, enjoy those orange blossoms they are fabulous.

Flower Drawing will give you years of pleasure.

I love Lilacs

There is nothing like the smell of lilacs in June to herald spring and summer. To me the smell is definitely magic.

When we incorporate Flower Drawing into our lives, we can add so much to spring and summer.

Even the word Lilac - has a really simple, elegant magic.

Draw a Rose

If we start with a rose, you will be tackling probably the most popular, and the most difficult flower imaginable.

However, to draw one is really not as difficult as people think.

This sounds contradictory, but...

just think about a rose in the way it grows, start from the middle and let that pencil just start going around in a tight layered circle in the middle.

Spread out, Overlap, and gently enlarge the Petals

I then start to create individual petals just starting to spread out, in a circle around the middle.

They are just starting to open up, and to keep it real just jiggle the pencil, don't make it perfect.

Nature is not perfect.

That is probably the most important part of drawing anything in nature, it is never perfectly even or symmetrical.

It is wild, and rough.

Even a rose.

See as you keep adding a petal at a time, expanding the flower, with the petals getting larger, and looser.

Still Larger

Larger still, just keep them getting broader and keep that overlapping thing happening.

The Last Step

Building the bones of any flower, is the stem.

In many cases the stems are more like branches.
