Fantasy Art

Why would anyone want to paint Fantasy Art?

What is it that has captured the attention of so many artists, to make them crazy about fairies, sci fi, comic book paintings, and even the great computer and video game paintings.

It doesn't even have to be those wild looking sci fi paintings, many artists concentrate on the genre in a less in your face style.

Christmas Cards and Valentines cards - what are great Santas and Cherubs, but fantasy painting?

The concept for fantasy is everywhere and this page is dedicated to the artist who loves any kind of fantasy painting.

Here is one of my paintings - click on it and it will bring you to my Gallery of Fairy Art.

I want to discuss acrylic painting (because it is my favorite) - just because that is what I know.

Oil is wonderful, and I have some important links about oil too.

What is it about Fantasy Art?

Why would anyone ever paint, and I have a whole page dedicated to the idea of why anyone would want to paint? and particularly why would anyone paint fantasy, or make fantasy art?

As the beginning of this section on fantasy art, I am suggesting a few answers at the above link. Check it out.

I will be adding more pages about this passion of painting, including where to get started, and you will find some info about drawing in my draw and color section.

What is it about an excellent piece of fairy art that just wraps itself around our hearts?

Have you ever created a fantasy scene in your mind?

Are you going to paint it?

What is this thing we call Fantasy Art?

Have you seen the wonderful art that is being produced today?

Collectors are collecting it!

Artists can hardly keep up with the demand.

Do know where you can see some wonderful art, and I am encouraging you to look at some.

See if you don't feel that inner urging, either to collect it, or create it.

Not just my stuff either

I do love to create fairy art, and there are more pages coming all the time, but I have some favorites out there that you just have to see.

I will list some sites where you can see fairy artists of the past, and today's artists who are consumed by this thing.

I still am encouraging all of us to try this creative thing.

I am encouraging you.

I will tell you what I feel when I am painting or drawing...

I feel completely consumed by the work.

Nothing else is going on in my mind.

In this day and age with all the battling and confusion that goes on in our minds?

It's all about Creating

Creating is a wonderful release.

When I look at beautiful artwork, I feel completely mesmorized, and I feel an inner stillness.

That's what these pages are about - learning to create Fantasy Paintings

Fantasy Art from the Past

Here is a list of some of the sites that show you older fairy art.

Cicely Mary Barker - did the most amazing flower-fairy artwork. She was born in 1895 in England, and her fairies live on!

Flower Fairy Art

A site that delivers many of the older artists is artpassions.net and has wonderful information about Arthur Rackham, Gustav Dore, and Edmund Dulac. These gentlemen illustrated the old fairy tales, and are legends.

Modern Painters

I just love the art on these sites.

And some of the modern artists that I love...

Amy Brown is one of my favorites. I could just look at her art all day long. You will want to too!

I hope you come back here if you want to experiment with trying some of your own.

The next modern day painter I will recommend is David Delamare. He has people lined up for his originals. So if you are a collector... check it out.

I hope you love these as much as I do!

A page about Pirates

I am a huge fan of pirate lore - and a lot of my painting involves Pirates or at least the look of pirates in the costume and help me create the vision of my fantasy painting.
