Hi, I am Barb C.;

I thought I might introduce you to the original idea, you know how I started thinking about creating this kind of school?
I didn't draw for a long time, while I was busy trying to be responsible.
Why do I say that?
When I was a kid there was nothing I wanted to do more than draw. I used to draw horses and play princess!
Then I grew up, and was told over and over that art is a great hobby but not a serious career choice.
I stopped drawing, and worked at a business career. It was good, it was really busy, became a mom, encouraged my kids to draw, and go to school, and found myself saying the same thing to them.
I then understood, that we are trying to guide our children in the right direction.
But... by my mid-life I found out something very important.
Those dreams never go away!
I burned out! I was not happy! I had many moments of fear and fuss! I started drawing!
Wham! The old creative juices started up again.
I found a skip in my step, a tune in my head, and my days were happier.
I started imagining a career in art again. I started investigating how to make all this happen. I drew pictures.
To my surprise after a few years, my drawing was improving like crazy. I had learned something about the internet, and found it so fascinating. People were doing all kinds of art and putting it up, for all to see.
I found the idea of putting my art out there pretty scary. But I finally found the courage and started a site. I didn't know what to call it. I loved fairies (some of the artwork I saw by great fairy artists, Amy Brown, Linda Ravenscroft, and Jessica Galbreth) this is some of my first inspiration.
So, it had to have the word "fairies" in it. I also, always loved fairy tales, and I knew I wanted to make art, talk about art, maybe teach art. So, that's how I came up with the name - it was pretty lame actually, no scientific or search engine strategy, just --- Love Fairies, Tales and Art.
Fairies-Tales-Art.com was the result. I have grown to love the name over the last - almost ten years now.
I'll give you more of my story later.
What was important is the way I was learning. I looked at other people's artwork for almost ten years, after years of not drawing, and I started creating my own. I learned techniques from what I saw. I believe this concept is what kept me inspired and kept me moving forward.
That is what I am trying to re-create, first with my site - showing you my drawings (even the bad ones), showing the progression, and then with my e-books. I wanted to show every little movement on each page - this makes the ebooks really big. But then, I got the amazing idea of creating this whole environment of learning by seeing on video.
Boy that would be the greatest way to really learn.
One problem, I was so non-techie, how am I going to learn to create videos?
Finally, I realized the same way I learned how to make a site, (my site had many incarnations over the years - if you have noticed it changed often) I learned as I went along.
So... I started playing with video, and trying to figure out the best way to produce them, and the best way to host them on the internet, and the best way to present them to you.
All the way I have been continuing to draw, and even got good at starting to think about how to teach each step.
That is what the Fairies-Tales-Art-School is.
Yours with love of drawing, Barb C fairies-tales-art.com

Nope, just really happy with how my video courses are coming along. So happy in fact, that I really feel that is the way to teach drawing!
Therefore, I want to give away my huge Fairy Drawing E-Book!
It is still a great way to learn, but not as great... so I consider this evolution!
And I encourage you to enjoy the Free Drawing Club too!
There are great tips, and even free videos once you are in the Club! Just wait for the emails!
Yours
Barb C.
p.s.
I will let you know when the Fairies-Tales-Art-School will be opened.

For over a decade Barb C has been adding to her site at www.Fairies-Tales-Art.com, and the whole thing is like a work-book and sketch-book of her drawings and writings on the subject of Fantasy Art.
In mid to late October, 2012 Barb will be opening her online video drawing school.
To read further about the Online Art School and all the courses being designed, check out the different drawing programs that will be delivered monthly, and broken down into weekly lessons.
This system will have you drawing so many different kinds of fantasy creatures, while you learn the basic principles of drawing.
Many people are already in the Free Drawing Club, and enjoying the various emails with drawing tips and free drawing videos.
So far the response has been amazing! The free videos have been hailed as being extremely helpful in adding to drawing skills.

Here is a link to the new image... I have just put up.
She is standing on the top of a cliff, the Queen Of Swords, and her people are just becoming aware of the approaching danger. The wind whips, and as she turns to look at her kingdom her determination and willingness to go into battle grows.!

A sweet little face, a huge ballroom full of very severe-looking aristocrats, a huge golden and gem-studded crown placed on her head. This is the setting that established my idea for this little Elf Queen Drawing.
I imagine the fear a youngster would feel if they were suddenly plunged into the position of being the only heir to the throne in a fairy land kingdom. The innocent look of eyes peering out from under a heavy crown. I wonder if the fact that I have been watching "Game Of Thrones" might have influenced my thinking in this direction. Probably - yes. Gosh I love that show.
Also, I wanted an excuse to draw a lot of hair, jewelry etc. and play with light. That is the lesson emphasized in this practice drawing.
***********************************************************************************Please forgive me for neglecting this blog. I am going to try to write more updates - more often.
***********************************************************************************This is my Fairies Blog and will tell you all that is new with my fairy art site.
