My Story - or how I got into this?

This page is About Me, and my name is Barbara Cederberg.

I am a fantasy painter.

I have written this page to introduce myself and how I built this site.

I have always been fascinated by nature, fairies, fairy tales and fantasy art.

As a young girl, my world was filled with fairies, dragons, mermaids, unicorns and other mythical creatures.

My earliest memories are filled with idyllic afternoons sitting around rural haystack barns drawing from nature.

What I studied!

After completing High School I took a year of graphic arts and studied layout and design, figure drawing and illustration techniques.

I went on to study Art History at the University of Toronto and developed a love of Egyptology and medieval and ancient art forms.

Working

After finishing my studies, I moved to the Muskoka region and set to work building and hand-painting furniture.

I opened a small store there and supplied local interior designers.

I now reside in Mississauga and have returned to my passion for drawing and painting.

My painting is mainly in acrylics and I specialize in the fantasy art genre.

How and Why I built this site

I have had so many people ask me about how I built this site. Many think that I must understand all that

programming - guru stuff.

I don't.

I originally had the intention of learning about the internet and building a website that could be my retirement. I knew so little about the internet that I was sure it would take me that long to learn everything I needed to know in order to build it.

I Love SBI

After much research and generally learning to get around the web, I found SBI!

I looked all over the place, and was tempted by the Get Rich Quick Schemes or GRQ - but I found an organization that teaches how to build a real business on the internet.

Expanding My Passion

As I read over the information I began to understand more about building traffic and creating a site that really gives people what they are looking for.

I started to come up with ideas from my passion, and next thing I knew I was creating coloring pages and even delving into the paper doll world that I loved as a child.

This led to all kinds of ideas coming up including scrapbooking, collage and decoupage ideas - all to do with fairies and fairy tales.

My dream is to expand my site into every creative endeavour that I love, including my painting.

Building A Real Business

The organization that I found is called SBI or Site Build It, and they host and maintain my site, i.e. every time I make a change they submit my pages to the search engines. They teach me things about the search engines that I would never have learned and they have taught me how to build a site where my traffic is growing naturally.

I have learned about being able to give some things on this site for free, and yet earn an income from Google Adsense,

The great forums have taught me about some technical stuff including how to create products in an e-file format or a digital product.

I never would have dreamed I could do this.

SBI really took away my fear and helped me learn to do these things.

My site is more than paying for itself and I am learning more and more ways to build an income and continue to share my passion with people all over the world.

It's Growing Every Day!

That is what I can see - it is growing everyday, and I am not even in the top percentages yet.

I can see that I will be though, when I keep doing the thing I love which is giving the content.

I know now that this is going to happen for me a lot sooner than my retirement years too, because I have seen constantly growing traffic on my site.

It has been hard work, but things are starting to pay off.
